A casa fica num terreno íngreme, no limite da aldeia, com uma vista privilegiada sobre a serra d´Arga. A construção deveria substituir uma ruína existente, ser pequena, compacta e ter uma piscina.
Há imagens incontornáveis das aldeias e propriedades rurais que retemos desde sempre. A primeira que nos surgiu foi o tanque de água, comunitário ou privado. Serviam para lavar, abastecer ou brincar em aventuras de criança mais ou menos ilícitas. Trespasses de propriedade em momentos quentes de verão. Funcionavam como um ponto de encontro, de trabalho e de vida comum de uma parte da sociedade.
A pendente do terreno permitiu-nos colocar a piscina como um tanque, acrescentando uma casa por baixo, como um abrigo. Um programa mínimo, uma sala, quarto e casa de banho, organizados em torno de um pátio, que por fora aparenta ser uma construção independente da principal.

There are
compelling images of villages and farms that we retain since ever. The first
that came in mind was the water tank, public or private. It served for washing,
filling bottles or child adventures, more or less illegal. Trespasses of
property in hot summer moments. They functioned as a meeting place, work and community life of a part of society.
The slope of the
terrain allowed us to put the pool as a tank, adding a house below, as a
shelter. A minimum program, a living room, bedroom and bathroom, arranged
around a courtyard, which outwardly appears to be a building separate from the
main.
